Brotherhood of Steel Report 012
Subject: Scouting Expedition Report – Central Florida Wasteland
Date: September 5, 2294
Author: Paladin Richard Hale
Introduction
This report details the findings of the recent scouting expedition into the Central Florida Wasteland, focusing on the growing threats posed by cryptids to remote settlements and caravan routes in the area. The expedition was conducted by a team of Brotherhood scouts, and while we made several important discoveries, the findings raise significant concerns regarding the current safety of our operations in this region.
Key Findings
Yao-Guai Encounter:
Details: During the expedition, our scouts encountered a Yao-Guai and its cubs near the outskirts of a small settlement.
Action Taken: The adult Yao-Guai was eliminated, as well as one cub. However, the mate of the Yao-Guai was wounded and managed to escape into the surrounding forest.
Concerns: The survival of the wounded mate poses a significant risk, as it is likely to remain in the area and may become more aggressive in search of food or to protect its remaining cub.
Deathclaw Nest:
Discovery: A Deathclaw nest was located approximately 9 miles east of Vault 23. The nest contained the remains of three hatched eggs.
Implications: This discovery indicates that the Deathclaw population is reproducing in the region, increasing the threat to both human settlements and Brotherhood operations. We estimate that at least one adult Deathclaw is still in the vicinity, posing a direct danger.
Tracking of Unknown Cryptid:
Incident Report: At night, our scouts were tracking an unidentified cryptid when it attacked. The creature successfully ambushed our team, resulting in the deaths of two Squires.
Escape: The cryptid managed to evade capture, further complicating our efforts to assess and mitigate threats in the area.
Wastelander Remains:
Discovery: We stumbled upon the remains of a group of wastelanders, scattered and gnawed upon. Among the bones were several firearms and badges, indicating they may have been part of a militia or law enforcement group.
Analysis: This gruesome find highlights the danger that cryptids pose not only to our personnel but also to the remnants of organized society within the Wasteland. The scavenging behavior of these cryptids suggests a higher level of predation and territoriality.
Conclusion and Recommendations
The current scouting expedition has confirmed that the Central Florida Wasteland is home to a dangerous population of cryptids, including Yao-Guai, Deathclaws, and other unidentified creatures that pose a significant threat to both settlements and our Brotherhood operations.
Given the losses sustained during this expedition and the escalating dangers presented by these creatures, I must conclude that the Brotherhood does not have sufficient resources to effectively track and eliminate this cryptid infestation at this time. Immediate prioritization of resources is essential to address these threats, and I recommend a strategic assessment of our operational capabilities in this region.
To ensure the safety of our members and the civilian populace, I urge the Council to consider allocating additional support, including advanced scouting teams and resources for containment and eradication efforts.
End of Report
