Overview

If you’ve never been to one of our Wasteland events… this is an interactive storytelling experience. Players come to Wasteland to have fun, and immerse themselves in complex world of violence, negotiations, deal-making, and double-crossing. Deals are made and broken. Total strangers may come to save you from dire predicaments. “Trusted allies” may suddenly turn on you. Many players spend considerable effort making the perfect post-apocalyptic costume and building props for the event. Teams that have come for multiple years actively take part in creating new missions and objectives sponsored by their own team to further develop the experience.

If you have never been to the Wasteland… dress the part and let yourself slide into the role and the game. “Winning” is having a great time and helping others have a fantastic experience unlike other airsoft games. Please leave your real-world differences, disputes, and grievances outside and come to the Wasteland to help share a fun and unique experience!

Background

For a couple years, the central Florida Wastelands had seen a rare period of relative stability thanks to the establishment of the Sunshine State – an alliance between the Sunshine Band, the remnants of the US Postal Service, and expeditionary troops of the New California Republic (NCR). The Sunshine State made considerable headway in rebuilding trade, mapping and protecting caravan routes, restoring communications infrastructure between settlements, and establishing a zone of control to minimize the threats within the borders of the Sunshine State. They enlisted the aid of the Florida Rangers to restore a justice system, and prospects for the return of Florida civilization looked to be promising.

Last Spring, advance scouts from the Enclave returned to Florida, followed by additional troops in the Fall. It soon became clear that the Enclave considered the Sunshine State an illegal political entity which was attempting to secede from the surviving authority of the United States government. While making efforts to rebuild their combat strength, the Enclave has still not fully recovered from the crippling destruction of Raven Rock 16 years ago and the costly Battle of Crystal Springs 10 years after that. To undermine the Sunshine State, the Enclave made a deal with a local Raider Boss to unite the local gangs and destroy the Sunshine State.

The plan may have succeeded, or the Raider horde and Enclave regulars may have been turned away by the defenders of the Sunshine State, but it will remain unknown due to the intercession of the Guild. Prior to the battle, the Guild had been approached by both the Sunshine State and the Enclave and petitioned to send their mercenaries to support them in the coming showdown. The Guild Council discussed the situation and decided that an overwhelming shift of the balance in the Florida Wasteland would not be in the interest of the Mercenary Guild, which require a balance of warring ideologies to maintain their profession. They believed that if one or the other government prevailed, the Guild would soon be seen as a dangerous and unregulated power and that the attention of the victor would soon be turned against the Guild to destroy them, drive them from the Wastes, or to try to regulate and control them.

The Guild sent its forces into the Battle of Poseidon, dividing their combat power to engage both warring sides. Guild Members attacked the forces of the Sunshine State, and the Enclave and Raider Horde equally, throwing the attack into a deadly state of chaos. The Guild protected key members of the Sunshine Band from the carnage, acknowledging them as fair dealers and sheltering them from the carnage. When shooting stopped, Poseidon remained standing, and a handful of Sunshine State defenders remained desperately clinging to their positions.

In the intervening months, the Sunshine State has struggled to rebuild themselves, but remain significantly weakened. The Enclave has withdrawn, but now their rage burns fiercer from the humiliating loss. The Raider hordes are scattered, and the land is ripe for competition for a new Raider Boss. The Guild withdrew to its base and has been largely reclusive during the past months, as they wait to see what follows their decision to engage both sides at Poseidon.

Will a new Raider Boss arise? Will the Enclave renew its assault on the Sunshine State? Has the Guild’s decision turned the hunters into the hunted? We’ll see you soon in the Wasteland!
